Yes, this past week has been trying. I got sick again. My last post I mentioned that I had started to feel better, well that only last like 5 days and then I got much worse. However here is a run down of my week 4.
Feb 3
Monday- Rest (sick)
Tuesday- Ran 3.5
Wednesday- Ran 3.5
Thursday - Ran 3.5
Friday- Ran 8.37 and then walked an additional 3.5 in my daily activities. So I don't feel bad about stopping early.
^ I was really nervous about running this 9 miles. It was the furthest I have ran since the half marathon I did in 2011. It was not bad at all. I was really fine until the end I got hungry and bored. I was easily able to run all of it. I did stop for a phone call, and to send some texts/ e-mails but without those distractions I am sure I would have been fine to just keep running. The facts that need to be addressed here are that I was hungry so I guess I need to start eating more before I run. I also think it is important to be conscious of staying extremely hydrated the day before a long run and to eat healthy foods as well. I treated myself to the most delicious hot chocolate with a flourless brownie after the run. How could I not after running 9 miles. It was weird though as I was headed home after my run I remember feeling like a panic like I need to eat food now or else which was a bit stressful.
After the hot chocolate and brownie I then devoured wings and sushi from Whole Foods. I went for 2 weeks with out eating gluten. This was during those glutenless times. I recently decided that since I do not eat dairy, that alone is enough of a dietary restriction for me and I started to eat gluten again. I love bread way too much.
I will say that I really did baby myself after my run. I really was fine, but I made it a point to go slow, take a long shower, snuggle in bed and make Trey give me some good leg and butt rubbs etc. I mean I spent $20 bucks on I just ran 9 miles- I need this food. It was worth every penny. I know that I was over babying myself because later that night I went to a club to celebrate a friend's birthday and was perfectly fine dancing all around in heels.
I think the most important thing that needs addressed is my boredom. I need new music. Any suggestions?
Saturday- Rest
Sunday- 3 and then I started to feel really sick.
I tied this gigantic key to my shoe for the first time this year and I wore a skirt because is was like 50 degrees. This may be part of the reason I got sick. Lesson learned, no matter the weather I am going to continue to wear leggings until I am completely better and spring has sprung.
Monday- Hot Vinyassa Yoga to recover/ get rid of the sick I could feel coming. However I still got really sick and I took an entire week off again. Regardless it really felt good to stretch and sweat out some toxins in the 100 degree studio.
Yesterday, (5 days later and rested) I finally started to feel better, but I am going to play it safe and wait 1-2 more days before I start running again. The last time I went running too soon the sickness came back.
I did go to yoga again today, Sunday. I felt like it would be easy on my body and a good way to wake up my muscles from taking a week off. I have been diligent about going to yoga at least once a week. I can tell it is helping my body recover better and is making me stronger.

I feel you on the eating! I got so hungry on my run Friday and yea, hydration days before is KEY. I donated plasma on Tuesday... and I'm starting to think that perhaps I shouldn't donate plasma again until after the trainings. Luckily I have a job now! I also over-babied myself during both long runs and over-compensated by eating 2 days worth of calories. Save me!!! As for the music, I listen to different radios on spotify. I usually listen to music that most wouldn't consider suitable for running to but Sail by NOOSA is a great song, I love running to that. If you like that song I can suggest others. Good job though! This is great, I'm glad that we are doing this :)
