Week 6
Traci and I ran 10 miles on Valentines day, in the rain. How romantic. Also, this event included a lot of dumps and was followed by a mass gorging of pizza.
Week 7
Friday was my first long run all by myself. Scarrry it was. I went on Saturday because I had to work on Friday and I didn't want to have sore feeties at work. So alas I did it. Dad helped me map out my run before he went to sleep. It was cute :) Then I did it. It was horrible, I won't lie. It was amazingly windy. I was running straight into the wind. It was blowing all the snot right out of my face and I was using my gloves as a handkerchief, which - I need to remember to bring next time. The wind made it a strong resistance to run against, which I so did not need on a 12 mile run - but I was bound and determined. It was funny because when I was running over the gould street overpass the wind pushed me right up and right down the hill. I was HAULIN. But pretty much everywhere else besides that distance from gould to yellowstone was me running straight into the wind. My whole first mile - running down chubbuck to hawthrone and my whole last mile- running from chubbuck to hawthorne were the worst. The wind was pushing at me, trying to get me down. Nu-UH wind, I'm made of more than that. I did complete the 12 miles, and also 0.75 miles of cool down because I got done early and just kept walking for the last 3/4ths of a mile to my house. I got really thirsty toward the end, just like I did last time. I need to remember to bring water with me, and maybe a snack. It took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to do 12 miles which is a sucky sucky time (like 4.8 mph) but I'll let you in on a clue as to how my time got to be so sucky. I was there at the end, ready to make my way up olympus hill and home, but I still had like 4 miles left to burn and I knew that home was only like 2 and a half miles or so away, so I kept going up on pocatello creek road and went up satterfield, which was a horrrrrible mistake. It's this huge huge hill, and I was in no way prepared to run up a hill for like 3/4ths of a mile, which is how long it turned out to be up hill (which was an oversight on my behalf). I especially wasn't ready to do that after just having ran 8 miles soooo I walked for that 3/4ths of a mile and even that was a workout because it was uphill. The wind also slowed me down a fair amount, and my overall laziness slowed me down. In the end it's all whatever. I did it. I'll go faster when there isn't wind and I don't pick such a sucky route. This week I'm supposed to run 13 miles, which is pretty much a half marathon but I have to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and I have a test Friday so I won't be going Thursday so I'll just have to skip this week and go 13 next week, which means I won't be able to finish my training in time for that spud marathon that we were going to do, but it's O.K. because I don't need the extra stress of completing training on time what with school and work. Also, I'm probably going to take treefort week off because I don't want to have sore feeties from doing a long run while I'm there. I need to save my energy for music watching. After these long runs it always takes me like 2 hours before I even feel like I want to casually walk around again, which sucks. It's like 2 and a half hours of running, 2 and a half hours of lazing about. That's like 5 hours right there. Oh well, it's a good investment of my time. Building up them tendons for greatness! I created a playlist of the artists that will be at Treefort. I got like 1/2 way through the list and gave up, but I think most of the 2nd half wasn't on Spotify anyway and was mostly just Boise bands. So on my long run I listened to 2 and a half hours of that playlist, and I created another playlist that was "liked from treefort" and every time I heard a song that was pretty good I'd send it over to that playlist so I can further investigate that band when it comes to choosing artists to see. Obviously some really great Boise artists are left off my list, but at least I have somewhere to start, some ideas of bands that I like and some I don't really like. I listened to the playlist again today, it's all been surprisingly pretty good music to run to.

Here's my daddy helping me plot out my run using the phone book and a measuring tape. Cute.
here is my actual run
here's some views from my run. I don't know how I never noticed this house painted solid orange before. It's right next to the outback golfing range.
